I've been dancing and singing since I started walking and talking. I've utilized vocalization with movement my whole life not only as a form of play but more so as a legitimate self-healing mechanism.
After traveling the world with my family before starting kindergarten, it was soon-discovered despite my high IQ score, I had a significant learning disability. This was at a time when awareness around this difference, was limited. And later, when Dylexia and ADHD became more recognized, they had yet to test girls who presented differently as boys did. In turn, I was bullied and misjudged both by my peers and adults for most of my life. With a growing, difficult home life, this developed into complex trauma that resulted in depression and chronic illness at young age. These challenges in school led to risky and destructive behavior. Yet, art and dance remained my refuge.
In my teens, as a promising dancer, a near-fatal car accident changed my life forever. During the first year of recovery from a traumatic brain injury and temporary paralysis, I taught myself breath-work, yoga, and meditation.
These practices became a gateway to my deep understanding of real healing.
My father, a physical therapist, was a great influence on my lifelong learning and natural abilities as a healer.
The doctors told me I would barely be able to walk, let alone dance again, and within a year I was standing on my head.
Over the years, I’ve studied a variety of modalities, working intuitively on both a physical and energetic level. I honor the body’s traumas, injuries, and pain through deep communication and release with breath, sound, stretch, core strengthening, massage, and both physical and subtle body sensitivities. Always with a deep listening to the body's signals as to what it needs to facilitate its innate ability to heal. While I've trained in many modalities, the practices I use are the ones either I've developed or I've learned of after I had already been practicing from my own self-discovery.
